We have also selected Garlic, based on it’s wonderful anti-microbial and cholesterol lowering activities.

Some of the specific natural compounds that make up garlic include:

  • A standout particular compound is Allilcin. It has many wonderful antimicorobial effects.  It works against many viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites.  In order to maximise the levels of Allilcin the garlic clove must be either crushed or cut.  This then activates the enzyme allinase, which metabolizes alliin to allicin, and allicin has the wonderful benefits we are chasing. Today we are looking at some of the benefits of Honey and Garlic when combined together.

How do you use honey or garlic at home?  Do you have it straight up, or crushed or mixed together.  Do you use both ingredients in your family cooking?  Do you have a favourite natural remedy you would like to share?

Honey and GarlicGarlic is one of the oldest cultivated plants on earth. In the ancient Egypt, garlic was considered a symbol of the universe.  In the middle ages, it was used in the fight against evil spirits and vampires.

It contains these magical properties because sulphur vapours emanate from garlic which kills bacteria and viruses, disinfect air and body.

Garlic contains about 200 active substances among which vitamins, minerals amino acids and enzymes healthy and bio-active compounds that contain sulphuric therapeutic action. It also has anti-biotic and anti-fungal effects with special effects for health. This substance occurs when the cloves are cut or crushed, so it is recommend that garlic be eaten raw and unprocessed.

The sulphide contained in garlic cloves is many times stronger than anti-biotics.

This natural remedy does not work as fast as medicines, but has power over almost all body organs, managing to eliminate a lot of diseases and ailments. Each year over 15 days we consume over 15-20 cloves of garlic daily.  This can cure many ailments in the body. It can help with anti-aging because it destroys the deposits of euric acid in the body and blood stream lines.

Garlic also protects against cardio vascular disease and against cancer of the inteston and has a curative effect on many other cancers, fight against diabeties and increase the proportion of cholesterol in the blood. Strengthens the immune system and is a powerful tonic and stimulant.

Garlic calms nervousness headaches and migranes, rheumatism. Struggling with cough and lung disorders.  Among other benefits, garlic combats multiple scerlousis, corns, worms and thickens skin.  It can cure vaginal infections it is effective against constipation, diaherria, flatulence and protects the liver and helps to burn toxins.  It is an excellent natural antidote for bites of snake, rat, rabid animal, viper bites, or other venomous animals. Such as scorpion, insect bites against ingestion of toxic plants and the consumption of very old or damaged food.

Garlic contains allicin which helps decrease apetite and helps the natural loss of weight.

But if we combine garlic with natural honey, it’s effects are enhanced.  Garlic combined with honey is considered an old rememdy.  Known for it’s spectactular effects that it has on the body. These two components, raw, each complete each other accellarating their healing qualities.

Honey And Garlic JarA mixture of honey and garlic has a protective effect on the heart, lowers bad cholesterol and blood pressure.  It is useful to persons who are undergoing chemotherapy helping to detoxify the body.  It has anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties.

It strengthens the immune system and helps protect you from colds. It relieves pain caused by osteoarthritis and has an anti-cancer effect.

There are basically two ways to mix garlic with honey.

One of these methods is to infuse 10-20 cloves of garlic with one glass of honey, leaving the mixuture in the refrigerator for several days.

Then we eat for 7 days, every morning, a spoonful of this mixture on an empty stomach.

Honey And Garlic CrushedThe second way is to crush a clove of garlic and then leave it at room temperature for 5 minutes. Because this will activate the enzymes that will convert it into a superfood and then mix it with a little honey and swallow without chewing.  You can drink a glass of water with this mixture, because that’s easier to swallow.

Also, this mixture we will be administrating in the morning, on an empty stomach for seven (7) days.  If you are wondering why the morning and why on an empty stomach and why for seven days?  Here is the answer.

Allicin from garlic is easily absorbed when eaten on an empty stomach. So the morning is the best time to consume this mixture. And we think that these treatments are recommended for at least 7 days. Everything has logic.

Honey And Garlic Crushed On A SpoonDon’t forget that the consumption of garlic is contra-indicated for people diagnosed with bleeding disorders, digestive disorders, stomach, those undergoing treatment for AIDS and those who will be undergoing surgery in the next 10-14 days.

Video Title: Manuka Honey on Acne

Video Author:  by Cloudy Apples.                     Published Date: September 9, 2014

Hey everyone, it’s Cassie. I am about to go to bed right now and the reason I look like a pile of ground beef is because I am not wearing any make up. I am going to try something that you guys have mentioned a lot in the comments and I have been reluctant to try. Just because putting honey on my face just seems like a very sticky and disgusting experience.

I have been eating a lot of bad food lately and I have mentioned before that when I eat bad food my skin in very easily impacted by it.  Pizza, Ramen Noodles, Deep Fried Pretzels and French Fries. They are all part of me know, so I have got to do something about it.

I’ve got these two really mean monsters right here. These hurt really badly and I also have this little constellation of acne all the way down my jaw.

I am going to try Manuka Honey.  I am going to use it as a Mask for 20 minutes, wash it off and then do a spot treatment, go to bed, wake up and then tell you guys what my first impression of Manuka Honey is.

I feel like it’s going to be really gross. That’s why I have never done it. But everyone in my comments, is like “Guys you gotta try Manuka Honey, it’s the best thing ever!”

I’ve got my 10+ Manuka Honey. My Mom got it for me. I know you can get higher numbers, but my Mom will always go for the cheaper honey if she can. Which I appreciate.

Here we go.  Gooey, Gooey, rich and chewy.

Yes, it feels quite disgusting, but the smell is AMAZING.

My current skincare routine smells really, really bad. It’s Apple Cider Vinegar, Tea Tree Oil and a bunch of really horrible things and Terry Cannot stand it.  I think he will like this a lot better if I end up adopting it into my skincare routine.

I am going to be honest with you guys. It’s kind of burning right now, and I hope that’s normal. I don’t know. I didn’t really look into it, because I wanted this to be a genuine first impression. But I hope the burning will fade. I am going to wait 20 minutes.  Hopefully just using water will be enough to get it off and my face won’t be sticky after. Because that’s one of the reasons why I didn’t want to use it in the first place.

I am going to go wash my hands.

It’s been about 5 minutes. The burning sensation has calmed down and I have to admit that it feels kind of good. It’s been 20 minutes so I am going to go and wash it off. I will let you know how it washes off.

It came off so much easier than I thought it would, my face isn’t sticky at all. My face doesn’t feel too tight or to dehydrated. It just feel good. And I put on some Lip Balm, but I am not going to put on any moisturiser, just because I am going to isolate the Manuka Honey and see if it does what I want it too do.  I am just going to spot treat these big horrible nasties with some Manuka Honey, go to sleep and wake up tomorrow morning and tell you what happens. Because these are the kinds of zits that will be there for weeks if you don’t do something about it.

This is probably going to make a huge mess anyway, but we’ll see.

Urgh.. This feels so gross.

It seems a little bit counter-intuitive to be fighting sugar with sugar.

I am going to go to bed and I will see you guys tomorrow.

Joke involving the boyfriend in the middle here.

Good morning, Well last night pretty much epitomized the reason why I did not want to use honey in the first place.  I am a face sleeper and honey got everywhere.  It’s a sticky terrible mess.

I woke up far earlier than I normally should and I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I like had this huge Missy Elliot Search and I was listening Missy Elliot and now I’m really, really tired.

But, that’s not the only thing that I havae to say about the Manuka Honey.  Despite the fact that the redness is still there, because that’s what hyperpigmentation does in my particular case. Today they don’t even hurt. If you couldn’t see the redness I wouldn’t be able to tell that I had breakouts.

There is nothing there that a little concealer can’t fix, so I am very, very intrigued. Obviously using a moisturising after you have cleansed is a good idea, but I didn’t do it because I wanted to isolate the honey to see what it did to my skin and all of my blemishes are visible but, they are less intense and they are not painful to the touch.

I am super impressed with that, so I am going to keep using it, but with a moisturiser and if I use it as a spot treatment, I am only going to use it during the day, because night time was horrible.

If you guys have any reviews, good or bad about Manuka Honey, please let me know because I am always in the Comments and now I am going to go and work out, because that is part of my morning routine.

I will talk to you guys soon. Bye.

Honey And Coconut Oil

People the whole world over are searching for more and more low cost natural remedies that they can use safely at home to help improve their health and wellbeing.

Today we are going to have a look at one possible use for Raw Honey and Coconut Oil.  We are going to use it on our hair! This simple and easy DIY remedy will leave your hair looking fabulous!

The 3 minute video today is by a vblogger by the name of Courtney Randall.  She will show us an easy Do It Yourself (DIY) version of a safe and natural hair mask.

Please feel free to leave any thoughts / comments below. In particular I would really like to know if you used this recipe and how you went or if you have any other favourite recipes for Honey or Coconut Oil that you like to do.

Text Summary of the Video: DIY Easy Coconut Honey Hair Mask with Courtney Randall.

Published: November, 16 2015

Today we are going to make a DIY Honey and coconut oil hair mask.

Not only is deep conditioning treatment super simple to make, but it is a receipe sent from heaven because it makes your hair look so soft and smooth and amazing.  And you probably already have a lot of the ingredients sitting around your house.

Make sure you give the video a big “thumbs up” if you like it, and lets get into it.

So the first thing you will need for this honey, coconut hair mask, is

  • Organic, unrefined coconut oil,
  • some Organic Raw honey and
  • if you would like to add a little bit of extra shine, you can use Argan oil from Morocco.
  • Then you need some measuring spoons so we can measure the ingredients.
  • Lastly you will need a zip lock, plastic bag.

So the first thing we would want to do is to add one tablespoon coconut oil to our zip lock bag.

Coconut oil is super mosituring and really replenishes your hair. And ontop of all that, it smells amazing so that you feel like you are on a Hawaiian beach, just soaking up the sun, in paradise.

Next you need to add one tablespoon of honey into your mixture and put that into your zip lock bag.  Honey is full of anti-oxidants and nutrients that actually encourage hair growth, which is awesome if you are trying to grow your hair out long.

And lastly, you can add a few drops of Argan oil, which gives your hair more shine and even treats split ends and helps tame your frizzy hair.

Then just seal your zip lock bag and start mixing all the ingredients.  The heat from your hands will actually start melting the coconut oil so it becomes a liquid state and finally we apply it to your hair.

You can apply the mask by combing it through your hair.  With your fingers and just massage it all in.  As you can see I have mainly focussed on the end of my hair, because that is the area where my hair is the most damaged and dry.

And then you can tie your hair up in a big bun and let the mask absorb for 30 minutes.

While you are waiting you can either treat yourself and paint your nails, or you can read a book, because you are a “boss” like that or you can sing into your brush microphone and be Beyonce for a little bit.

After 30 minutes, you can shampoo and condition your hair, just as you normally would when you shower. And Whola!! Your hair will be silky smooth.

I love this hair mask because it’s 100% natural and it’s using comfortable products that you might already have in your kitchen already.  You can use this mask upto twice per week to keep your hair shinny and soft.

Benefits Manuka Honey

The Benefits Manuka Honey

People have often asked me, so what exactly are the benefits of Manuka Honey? If sounds amazing, but what does it do that is so special when compared with regular supermarket honey?

The benefits Manuka Honey are that it has so many amazing antibacterial and immune boosting properties. And as an added bonus,  because it’s sweeter than normal sugar, you only use half as much – so it’s great for weight loss too.

So here is a short 2 minute video which will help to answer this question.  The author is “The Doctors” and it first went to air, on June 24, 2010

Video Title: Healing Power of Honey on ‘The Doctors’

Video published by: The  Doctors                 Published Date: Jun 24, 2010

It’s healing and it tastes good too.

I am just enjoying my honey. (laughs)

You know, it’s interesting because honey in moderation, it’s actually not bad for us.  Antioxidants, cough suppressant, I put it in my coffee every morning.

It’s twice as sweet as sugar so you can use half as much.

So you know the Egyptians, maybe they got it right. (Yeah!)

And we know that it keeps, after they found the Egyptian tombs and all that. They used it medicinally.  it’s having a little bit of rebirth.

Now the caveat is that I wouldn’t try this on sever burns, or diabetic ulcers or bed sores or things like that.  But for minor abrasions, minor burns, minor cuts, there maybe something too this for a couple of reasons.

Number 1) it’s acidic, so it’s naturally going to kill bacteria.  It actually creates a moist environment so that healing with take place quicker and

2) in the form of these exclusal wound dressings, it’s actually been shown that you may have better healing, better scaring (removal) with these products.

So it has anti-bacterial properties.

You know, some diabetic patients have tried this and said that “it’s been extremely beneficial for their ulcers”.

They are some of the toughest ones that there are – diabetic ulcers and for some of them, maybe give it a shot.  For some of the other things haven’t worked, you heard some testimonials there that say “it’s worth a shot”.

Question: Should you only use this special honey from New Zealand or can you use any honey?

Well the special honey from New Zealand has the MOST antibacterial properties and it’s the most beneficial, which is why it’s packaged that way.

“It’s all mine” Doctor grabs it all for himself.

To see the gauze shown, please click here: Derma Sciences MEDIHONEY Calcium Alginate Dressing, 2″ x 2″, Box of 10

Comment: Laughing, He’s not sharing.

It’s actually worth trying. We have actually done a “home health” remedy, where honey mixed with olive oil can help with some skin irritations.

And as we saw on the tap, it can even help sometimes with medicine resistance Staph. Aureus.

I know, what has clinched it for me, is that it makes my coffee in the morning taste better.  And tea. It smells good.

Kiwi Manuka, New Zealand Manuka Honey Candies (throat lozenges) are really well suited for people who have a sore throat and want the health bursts that UMF 15+ Manuka Honey can give them. UMF 15+ is really one of the highest qualities of Manuka Honey you can buy off the shelf, higher ratings exists, such as 18+ or 20+ but they are super, super, super uncommon and very expensive.

Rather than travel around with a pocket loaded up with a jar full of gooey, sticky, raw honey and a spoon, now you can have a burst of high quality UMF 15+ Manuka Honey in your pocket, whenever you need it.

Each individual serving of the candies come individually wrapped in a sterile plastic wrap, so that your pocket will never have to be sticky every again!

Kiwi Manuka honey products are for people who care about the ethical harvesting of honey, as Kiwi Manuka really care about their bees and bee colony health.

Positives of this product:

  • Great strawberry taste.
  • All candies in the box come individually wrapped for ease of use and so they don’t stick inside your pockets.
  • Very portable. You don’t have to be at your home kitchen or in your work kitchen. These candies are not the free flowing sticky substance that raw Manuka Honey is.
  • The candies have a soft exterior and a hard interior. This is ideal for people who like to “chomp” a bit of the outside of the candy, yet the Manuka Honey is contained in the inside for the added benefits of slowly releasing into the body.
  • The product is suitable for most of the family (not suitable for children under 4 years of age)
  • This product is a gentle food grade health superfood. You can have upto six (6) candies per day.
  • Honey has an amazing shelf life. I couldn’t even find the expiry date on the box that I was given.

Negatives of the product:

  • The #1 negative is that some people have a serious Propolis allergy. If this is you or someone you love, then you need to know that this product contains 132mg for each candy. So, if you have a Propolis allergy, then this product is not for you.
  • This product is not for children under 4 years of age at all.
  • This product is recommended to be used in reduced quantities for children aged 4 – 8 years of age. The recommend dose for children is a maximum of three candies per day.
  • This product needs to be stored in a place where small children cannot reach it easily.
  • Pregnant or lactating women need to consult their health care provider before use.
  • I could not find a nutrition table regarding this product. People like to know these things. Sorry, I cannot be of more assistance in this regard.
  • The ingredients of these candies are: Sugar, Glucose Syrup (from corn), water, then UMF 15+ Manuka Honey 3.14g see photo’s for the others.
  • This product is listed as a “candy” and the top ingredients are: Sugar and Glucose Syrup (from Corn). Diabetics need to pause before consuming. However diabetics need to do this before consuming all candies anyway.

What to expect when you use this at home:

  • My first impression of tasting the product was really quite positive.  I can’t find a nutritional table for this product, so I thought it was nice that they were smallish candies.
  • The flavours were well balanced and tasted great.
  • Also the candie is soft on the outside and hard at the centre. The two different textures were nice.  It avoided any “same, same” feeling that you can get with some candies.
  • The after taste when I finished this candies was still pleasant and I could taste other foods really quickly.
  • It helped with my sore throat. I was glad I had them.

Video Title:  Honey and Milk Magic Sleep Remedy

Video Author: Article-TUBE2            Date Published: July 2016

You can’t sleep , so you wake up every morning tired and sleepy?

Well don’t worry, because we have the right answer for you.

If you suffer from insomnia, then you should definitely try this home made mixture of milk and honey.

This is the most effective ancient sleep remedy. All you have to do is drink just one cup of this remedy before you go to sleep and you will fall asleep in less than 10 minutes.

People used honey and milk for centuries to make remedies for insomnia, even if you consume them separately, they are both extremely effective ingredients, but their effects are multiplied by a couple of times if they are combined and consumed together.

Milk, Source Pixabay, Couleur

We can also mention that Honey is one of the sugary ingredients which cause a controlled increase in the amount of insulin being secreted, which also promotes tryptophan to be released into the brain.  So this compound tryptophan is being converted into serotonin which promotes a feeling of relaxation.  And the serotonin is usually converted to melatonin, a well-known sleep aid.

So if you understand this chemical pathway, then you can see why honey and milk are used to improve your sleep and to reduce insomnia.

Honey and Milk Magic Sleep Remedy

  • 6 ounces of milk (170 mls of milk)
  • 1 drop of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (5 grams)

Directions:

Pour the milk into a small saucepan and put it on heat.  Wait until it is warm, but not boiling.

Then remove it from the heat and pour it into the glass.

Then you need to add the vanilla and the honey.

Stir well and drink it slowly before you go to sleep.

Note: For people who are lactose intolerant, follow the same recipe, but replace the milk with a lactose free substitute, just like soy, rice or almond milk.

Did this Honey and Milk remedy work for you? What do you prefer to you use instead?  If you are lactose intolerant, what is a great alternative to use?

Raw Honey and Weight Loss – The Results Will Surprise You

Unbelievable! Great News Yes! Raw Honey and Weight Loss Do Really Go Together.

I have some wonderful news for anyone who enjoys the taste of honey, but is also looking to lose weight. It’s true, raw honey and weight loss really do go together.

The surprising thing about raw honey is that it has recently been found to be really good for weight loss.  I am sure you would agree that this is both wonderful and very surprising news indeed!!

First, the bad news:

Raw honey has more calories than white sugar.  In a standard teaspoon, honey has 22 calories and white sugar has 16 calories.

Then the good news:

  • Honey is sweeter though and as a result, most people only consume half as much.  So it ends up being a great trade off. So to drop your calorie content per day – just swap sugar for honey.
  • Raw honey is less processed than raw sugar so it has more nutrients and healthy calories than white sugar.  That’s why it’s better for you.

Sabina come out and join me.  Hi Dr OZ how are you?

How do you normally enjoy your sugar? Oh, I enjoy my sugar a little bit too much. I have it in my coffee every morning, usually in my oatmeal every morning and when I am drinking tea, I put it in my tea. So I really need an alternative.

Everything that you just mentioned obviously honey could work with, but let me uncover two (2) big reasons.  Walk over with me.  While you can actually replace your sugar bowl with a honey jar and you will be a happy camper.

Oh thank goodness.

I mentioned the first one, but go ahead and pull out the spoon and reveal it for everyone.  There we are. We need to put it down like this.

It actually is GOOD FOR WEIGHT LOSS.

Now this is breaking news.  Now I want to explain WHY it helps with weight loss.  OK

On the surface you wouldn’t expect it because they are both sweet right?  Yes.

We have a teaspoon full of honey and a teaspoon full of sugar over here. OK

Typical to what you might add to a cup of coffee or what you might use it with.

Which one do you think has more calories?

I would say probably the sugar.

Yes, most people would think that. It turns out that honey actually has more calories.  So I will put it up there. Honey has about 22 Calories per teaspoon and your regular sugar has 16 calories.  Both have pretty reasonable numbers by the way, which is why you can get away with it.

Although you think sugar is the winner, it turns out that IT IS NOT, and for an important reason.

Honey is a lot sweeter and because it’s sweeter, you only need half as much.

So it’s literally, twice as sweet, so you put half as much in there, so it turns out that it is a better caloric trade off because you use so much sugar in your life these days. All of us do as Americans, you can actually get away with a lot less calories but just replacing honey for your sugar.

Wow that is interesting.

So on the score card, honey get a bit “Ting”.

Yeah. I like that.

Most folks who watch this show try to avoid processed foods. Are you in that camp?

I try to. Yes, I think it’s better to avoid the cans and avoid eating out.  You know cooking at home.

So go ahead and pull out the spoon and show me the other reason. Because you will be a fan of it for this reason.

It’s less processed.

Honey compared to sugar.  Now this is a big deal, because we don’t think about that processing right.  You know it’s sugar. In Sugar it’s called “refining the sugar” it seems like a good thing, you know we all want to be “refined” don’t we.

Yes.

But let me show you.  You know you start off with a natural product from sugar cane or beets and other sources.  So you get the sugar cane here, you know a natural source. And then the sugar is extracted from these plants and it’s put into these big vats. There are bleaching agents which are then added to it. It produces that white Chrystal material that we know as sugar. Just like that.

And of course when they box it up and package it up it finally comes to your home like this. But that processing actually strips out vitamins and minerals and proteins and of course all the fibre that was naturally present in this sweet stuff. It now becomes sugar.

That’s why we call these “empty calories”.  That’s what undermines sugar more than anything else.

Now honey is also processed, in fairness, but guess who the processors are? We are the processors? Nope!  Bees. Oh Bees.

So the honey bees are the processors and for that reason they are very careful with how they do it. They don’t strip out the nutrients. So here is what happens. The bees starts out and it finds a nice plant that it likes and sucks all the nectar out of there and gorges itself and then returns, after it’s done that, into the hive.  When it goes into the hive, it actually finds the wells and it converts it to honey (nectar). Do you notice that it’s moist. Do you notice that.  In order to dry out the honey, they flap their wings and that concentrates the honey by evaporating off all the fluid leaving all the nutrients.

There are no metal vats, there are no conveyor belts, none of this stuff that you might have otherwise expected to have been in the place.

That’s why honey I think has a lot of additional benefits and I like dark honey, because dark honey has a lot of these anti-oxidants that there have been studies looking at cancer rates, heart disease rates. Big things that we always ignore, but are important. Which is why if you go down and if you want something sweet in your life, I am pushing you towards honey.

So I want you to have raw honey.  It looks like this. It’s much thicker.

Actually that thickness is an important issue for some people. Is it important to you? Yeah I think that is important.

You take the regular honey, I will take the raw honey.

So go ahead. Show everyone the thickness of the regular honey.  OK. And we have regular honey and we have raw honey.  See the difference? One slurps away and the other one stays put.

Now it’s the raw honey you are looking for. Its keeping all the nutrients. So on my score card honey wins again.  Raw Honey.

Raw honey, yes,  Honey Wins

You can put it in a warm drink, you can put it dark honey in for that. But I have got to say a lot of folks would prefer to use honey in their baking.  Do you bake much?  I try to bake as much as I can and that takes a lot of sugar.  It does. Yes.

Or now that you know about it, you can use honey because it’s sweeter.

I’m putting a bunch of recipes on www.DoctorOz.com   Use clover honey. It is sweet but it does not over power the taste.  And you know you can use it to make cookies, and these muffins and just taste one of them and tell me if you like them or not.  Oh, they look so good.

Now as you enjoy them, just remember that you are not going to give these to small little kids right?

Infants under 12 months (1 year) of age, because there is some bacteria sometimes, good bacteria but they can be problematic for children.

Good? Yes, these are delicious. And these are made with just honey, no sugar? No sugar. Wow!  This is a great alternative. I am going to use it. Definitely.

It makes me warm inside. Thank you. Thank you very much.

I would really enjoy hearing how you use honey everyday at home, or ways that you wish you could use honey everyday at home.  Please leave your comments below.  Thank you for visiting us today.
