    1. Hi Philippa, thanks for visiting us today, I really appreciate that. I am sorry to hear that your much loved family horse Whitney has been harmed. Yes, I believe that Manuka Honey could be helpful to your horse. This is because Manuka Honey has an impact on the bacterial infection of the wound. By getting the Manuka Honey to attack the bacteria, then hopefully Whitney’s immune system can help produce enough healthy cells to help take care of the wound naturally.
In order to explain this further, there are two links on my website to have a look at 1) http://australianrawhoney.com/manuka-honey-for-wound-care This will help explain what bacteria Manuka Honey can help your horse with. The focus of this video is people, but it will help you understand what the ph in Manuka Honey will do and what to look for with exudate (weeping). It will also help you understand how much Manuka Honey you will like to have in contact with the wound in order to best help Whitney.
You mentioned it could be a possible bear attack, as such I will make a guess that you live in either America or Canada. The cheapest place on the internet to purchase Manuka Honey that I have found is actually Amazon. I can get it cheaper there via the producers authorised store than if I contacted the producer directly in New Zealand and had it sent out. An example for you is http://australianrawhoney.com/product-review-comvita-manuka-honey-umf-15. If you stay with the producers store, then you know you will be getting the authorized, 100% genuine product.
I too care deeply about animals and was considering writing a post on Manuka Honey and animal care. Thank you for promoting me to write it sooner. As part of this research, I have found a video on Manuka Honey and horse wound care. I hope you find it useful. The horse in this video had a large wound and needed 2 months+ to heal. I hope you get a lot of quality information from this video. https://youtu.be/ctkM5o0Eh60
My thoughts are with you and Whitney. You sound like you care deeply about this much loved family pet. I know you will be working in conjunction with your vet as you nurse him back to full health.
I sincerely wish you and Whitney every success and hope he has a wonderful recovery.
Thank you again for stopping by.

    1. Hi Julia,
Thank you for stopping by today, I really appreciate that.
Thank you also for your comments.
I agree with you that the honey is wonderful, but you must ensure that you are buying 100% authentic product from a reputable seller.
The #1 companies that I recommend are Comvita (the market leader) and Steens Manuka Honey.
Comvita normally heat their honey, you can purchase it here
Steens have a “raw” product which is full of nutrients, but not suitable for people with a bee or propolis allergy. You can buy it here.
The cheapest place to buy it is actually from Amazon.
Thank you again for stopping by.
